Participate in a research survey for Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion in Geoscience (EDIG) Project - Ends 09/28/2020
From the EDIG Project Website:
"To better understand the experiences of geoscientists, we are conducting research on prejudice, inequity, bias, exclusion, sexism, and discrimination within the larger geoscience community.
We are asking for your help to understand these issues by completing an anonymous survey about your experiences/lack of experiences related to these topics. Even if you do not feel these readily apply to you, we would still like to hear from you. The survey will run from Monday the 14th of September until Monday the 28th of September, 2020.
The survey is open to anyone who is over the age of 18 years old and is currently or has previously worked or studied in the field of geoscience. Participation should take no longer than 8 minutes.
Anonymized results and quotes may be used in later activities, including EDIG, an online conference to discuss equality, diversity, and inclusion in the larger geoscience community, later this year. By participating in the survey you agree to accept these terms.
To participate, please follow this link to fill out our survey.
A time to listen, learn, and act.
Thank you for your help,
The EDIG Team"

Public radio reporter/producer in search of BIPOC geoscientists who'd like to discuss mining lithium or cobalt
Public radio Reporter/Producer, in search of geologists/volcanologists/chemical engineers who can enthusiastically talk about the following topics in a manner that is accessible to laypeople with an interest in the science behind batteries:
-
The amazing and immense forces that created the Earth’s ore deposits.
-
How amazing it is that most of the stuff around us is made from some combination of elements mined from our planet.
-
Why Lithium is an interesting metal/element, and what makes it so good for use in batteries (weight, reactivity).
Interviews will hopefully be used for an episode of the podcast Outside/In, from NHPR. If interested, please email tquimby@nhpr.org and put “lithium interview” in the subject line.
